With great pleasure Hidrostal presents the new Tuma motor line. A range of immersible, self-cooled motors which can also work fully submerged in the medium. Efficiency, reliability and a uniquely robust construction characterise these IE3 equivalent motors, which due to the Hidrostal modular system can be combined with any hydraulic configuration of the original screw centrifugal impeller.
Tuma motors are extremely reliable and versatile. They owe their name to the source of the River Rhine, the "Lai da Tuma" (Lake Toma). The IP68 waterproof design allows continuous operation in dry and flooded installations. In addition to different speeds and voltages, the insulation class and construction materials can be freely selected. All motors will also be available in a stainless duplex steel version, which allows operation in seawater and other aggressive and abrasive media. The motors will be produced initially in a power range of 15 - 60 kW, with 2 to 8 poles and will then be continuously expanded.
Robustness is essential for immersible pumps so the design of the Tuma motors places great importance on maximum service life. Features include the completely cast outer shell, in which the patented, energy-efficient cooling system is integrated, ball bearings with a bearing life time (L10h) of 50,000 hours, and long durable mechanical seals.
Monitoring and operational safety are guaranteed by broad sensor possibilities and allow connection to internet of things (IoT). The ability to observe the two mechanical seals in tandem arrangement, as well as bearing temperature and bearing condition monitoring is a great advantage. To protect the winding from overheating, bimetallic switches and PTC thermistors are integrated at the winding heads. With the optional PT100 sensors, the winding temperature can be measured and evaluated. Hidrostal Tuma motors are certified for applications in Ex-zones 1 and 2 and temperature class T4, according to the requirements of IECEx, ATEX and FM. All motors are appropriate for operation with frequency converters.
Efficiency and sustainability are an integral part of the Hidrostal philosophy. Therefore all Tuma motors achieve the premium efficiency according to IE3, although submersible motors are excluded from the IEC efficiency classes due to their construction design. The robustness and wear resistance also guarantee an extremely long product life time. Through sustainable production, the use of rare earths is completely avoided during manufacture.
Service friendliness was a central point in the development of the Tuma range. The streamlined surface of the motor prevents the deposition of solids and facilitates cleaning and maintenance of the pumps. The components can be installed and removed with as few tools as possible, and only in one clear position. The pluggable connection cables can be left in place for future service in a workshop.
Accessory options allow the Hidrostal screw centrifugal pump with Tuma motors to be installed in an optimal way, both vertically and horizontally. These include EN 13155 certified hangers, lowering devices and maintenance-friendly base plates.
The Hidrostal Group has been producing high-quality, low maintenance pumps for over 60 years. A worldwide, comprehensive service and sales network of over 1100 employees ensures that Hidrostal pumps with the original screw centrifugal impeller are used around the globe for the most difficult applications in the fields of waste water, liquids with high solid content, food, thick matter, fibrous materials, abrasive and gaseous media and even living fishes. The different versions of the screw centrifugal impellers allow to realise flow rates between 2 - 2000 l/s and heads up to 100 m. The pumps are renowned for their outstanding efficiency and the associated low life time costs.
